Carers Week 2023

Over 120 carers attended the special, free event to say thank you to unpaid carers which was organised by Bexley Carers Partnership and Bexley Wellbeing Partnership.

The event included support and information from local providers, pampering and relaxation such as massage and reiki, taster activity sessions and informative interactive talks.

All carers received a thank you goodie bag on arrival and a buffet lunch and refreshments was provided.

Cllr Melvin Seymour, Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Adults’ Services said: “It is all too easy to overlook our hard-working unpaid carers who do one of the toughest jobs in our community. This event is our way of thanking them during this important week when we recognise the immense contribution they make to the local people and families they support.”

Stuart Rowbotham, Bexley’s Place Executive Lead, said, “It’s important that we recognise what a vital and difficult role unpaid carers have. An event such as this, where partners come together to show what support is on offer and take time to listen to the needs of carers, is a demonstration of how support and services work better in partnership to address the needs of our people.”

Vikki Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Carers’ Support Bexley, and chair of Bexley Carers Partnership, said, “The Bexley Carers Partnership is working together to better support carers. Its strength is us all coming together: carers, charities, health services and the local authority.”
